Day 17: your idol and why you look up to them
I don't really have an idol that I look up to really.
Wait. I've mentioned someone on here before- a patient, but recently I've been reflecting on something Eve had told me. Well, a couple of somethings...
She was one of my very first patients I had in the assisted living center. I was like 18. She was very quiet, but I would come to her room and wheel her down for dinner. At the end, I would return her and we would talk.
Oh the adventures she shared! She had gone up in a hot air balloon ride for her 80th bday. Her neighbor, Eleanor and Mary Jane had told me that I would be so much more open to compromise when I found someone truly right for me.
I realized that they were right.
My entire childhood, I was sooooo proud of my name, Strode. I was convinced that I would never ever change it for all the cookies in the world!
Steven came along, my last name is Riverside.
And again, I am convinced that I will never ever change it again, for all the medical knowledge in the world.
I heard one guy say that that was a dealbreaker for him if his wife didn't take his name. Well, Stacey didn't take Casey's name. That seems like a silly thing to fight over.
