Day 17 - the ups and downs of the year
Let's see....
I don't feel that I've accomplished much this year. At the beginning, I was reaching the end of my rope for my career. A new employee 'took initiative' and accused me of fraud. She was reprimanded, but she had my boss going for a second since they all confronted me. Once it was found to be a simple clerical error NOT on my part, it was brushed off. That was enough for me to say NEVER AGAIN! Who wants to live constantly looking over their shoulder that someone can have so much power to destroy you so quickly? If I didn't have my other colleagues and documentation, I would've been in a mess of hurt.
I started a new job. It started off great enough, but dynamics as we try to live amicably (remember, I'm not used to having co-workers and supervisors- I've always worked mostly alone or I was the supervisor) have us recently at each other's throats. It has calmed some since but the issues aren't resolved, I simply quit trying to fix them. There are legalities involved- and my license, so it will have to change, but I have other projects on my plate like....
I became a CPR instructor! I'm so thrilled for the opportunity to serve the school's community and make a little extra money on the side!
I also learned that new or not, people can still be rude. That's toward Region 10. Thanks for making life more difficult lady.
I was able to visit my family in January, which is always nice! I only see these people like once a year now- when I'm used to seeing them near monthly! ~ but I guess it has been a few years since then. Can't believe it's been two years since I graduated school...
I moved twice! Living in a hotel was fun- til Shawn was stolen. Living in my apartment was fun- til new management came and changed all the rules and fees (which I still don't know much about).
Shawn was stolen :(
I met some awesome new people-
Shauna - Sara's friend. We hung out a few times. Loved Lee Harvey's!
Lindsay - finally remembered her name! From institute.
Aneesa - my main cohort at work. She likes to work so freakin' incredibly hard (gotta admire her for that!) but we fight over space.... :)
Jenn - She is ALWAYS dancing and offering me food from student services <3 p="">
Rebekah - she just has this awesome coolness to her- love her!
David (from B2B) - he's just awesome. He's so awesome, he won an award for his awesomeness- the awesome award (like seriously).
Megan - she might be the intern and work for free, but she's cool. We would hang and talk in her office. She's always so polite and asking for help makes me feel good - I'm gonna miss her in fall, but happy graduation!
Erik - that 7 year old just knows how to speak to me - video games, laser tag, putt-putt, pizza, and icecream!
Xavier 'Exie' - from institute. Always love a daredevil, lets-do-this-thing-right-friggin'-now kind of person! Just hanging out in the past few weeks, I've gone to two midnight movies, racecar driving, truly for true bungee jumping, and scored a goal in Whirleyball!
David- the doctor and academic advisor at Brookhaven. He might have stood me up, but he's 'injured'. I can only imagine the torment he'll have to put up with over his lifetime from that crash. Poor thing, it's been weeks and he still has significant problems. He is always willing to help me though, which is a nice thing amid his own trouble.
John - I met him in January at a speed dating event (I was invited to another, but didn't go). We're still close. He wants to be friends, I'm cool with that. I'm always in need of a partner in crime for random debauchery of goodness. He's not usually available anyway-darn school schedules, but we have plans to go to some scientific museum of sorts in the summer (yay?). He's a rocket scientist, engineer, and AP Physics teacher. He can also dance..... as a single person only (very impressive actually) but not with anyone else (that's just downright embarrassing).
Jon - We started talking in January and met in February. He's my pretty awesome guy from Missouri! I was able to surprise him in February (I will always remember our first meeting- then laugh). He was my spring break vacation (first one in MANY years- hey, I got to go on a shopping spree, can we say epic?!). He also came to Dallas where I stuck him on a plane and watched him sweat. Poor thing, I think, has also seen me fairly sick (like nearly every time he's seen me- sad.)
And some goodbyes:
Scott. - I'll miss you buddy. Who else will take me to obscure restaurants and bars at ungodly hours of the morning simply because you were bored? I'll also miss the friendship, having you live within a few seconds of walking, and the protection you gave me from creepy people. I'll miss Pumpkin-butt too. That dog's a mess (but in a good way!).
Andrew - ah, my poor stalker buddy. You were definitely cool at first, then you got a little creepy, then alot creepy. I wish your condo the best (since we seem to be burning condos and apartments down in Dallas at an alarming rate). I also feel for your loss and wish you the best.
Bianca and Chuey - we just met, but you guys are awesome! And definitely excellent dancers! Happy wedding!
Kylie and the Powells - Kisty was the nicest sister in our ward by far. I was amazed that she lived off her food storage before moving for 4-5 months. Impressive. I'll also miss Kylie and her trying to teach my sign language (she has implants). She also always volunteered in class to avoid the delays that come from asking for volunteers and arguing with students when you ask them to do something they don't want to do.
As for other things, I guess I continue my love/hate relationship with my Primary class. They Love to Hate me. I'm sad that now all my students are only part-timers. It makes preparing a lesson hard, knowing that more than likely I'll only have 1 student or no students at all.
That's all I got. How'd you like that?3>
