Day 47: is the truth always good to hear, why or why not
Yes. As much as the truth may suck, hurt, or worse- it is always better to hear the truth than to continue to live a lie.
Consider the following:
You work hard on a presentation. The guidelines were vague, but you gave it an honest effort. It wasn't anything like the supervisor thought it would be but she compliments, 'you did a fantastic job!' Now, you take your presentation in front of the big boss with overconfidence because you think you have it in the bag- then the boss rips it and you to shreds in front of many more people including your laughing supervisor. Bad.
Or
You go on a totally awesome date. The guy is super nice, sweet, and not-too-hard on the eyes. You think everything is perfect and you'll both have dreams of each other for nights to come. In his eyes, you're mediocre, but ok. At the end when you ask how he thought of the evening, he tells you he had an absolute wonderful evening. He would have rather hung out at home watching a game rerun. You are now dreaming of your future kids- unevenly yoked and only leads to hard times in the near future. Why not just say, it was an ok/fun date?
It just seems that lying up front simply complicates and delays the truth. While people may be upset with you in the beginning, it's better than backtracking lies.
Lastly, consider the old question-"do these pants make me look fat?" If you say yes, she may scream, change, and then pout- but if you don't and she finds out later it turns into "why the &$@?! Did you let me go looking like this! You knew didn't you! Why didn't you say anything?!" Your answer will always be wrong and the silent treatment will last longer. So why risk it?

Oddly great foreshadowing, like really really. If only I knew what was going to happen the very next day...
