Today didn't start off too great.
Tonight was supposed to be an interesting night. I had a group date with a doctor that I met at a health fair last month. Did you see that one little change that 'makes' the whole sentence- had.
I was nervous yesterday that I didn't hear from him at all. This is supposed to be a fun and airy group thing. I mean, everyone should know that Debbie and me together = debauchery and craziness. She brings out the crazy in me and I bring out the whiny in her sometimes- it's kinda funny.
Anyway, I emailed him before leaving for work. It was around 3- so it wasn't right before, but I didn't hear a response.
This morning as I drove Debbie home, I was thinking that we really didn't have a plan in place for how we were going to do this. Hard to have a plan when I don't have any communication with the 4th party of our group. I texted him around 730 (driving to work- for shame, I know). He responded pretty quickly that he thought about texting me last night- then forgot, but he canceled.
* wait for it... *
You have to know his history. This is stemming from something that happened mid-last month. I understand that you're tired and achy and that you work like crazy- especially since registration opened this week, but...
*now!*
WHAT A DOUCHEBAG!
What kind of man waits until the bloody day to cancel??? Much less, I had to initiate contact for him to cancel! We talked on Tuesday and he never mentioned anything. You would think he would throw in a bone or something about 'hey, I'm feel pretty achy/sore/sick/what-have-you today. At least by Thursday morning, tell me! So I can at least try to get someone else to go- I mean, I ALREADY bought the tickets. I didn't even purchase them until he agreed to go.
I guess it may have been PD's answer to prayer- I would never get to say "Well, I dated a doctor" or something stupid that I can repeat in petty arguments that are probably initiated by me anyway.
What made it worse was, I extended the invitation to Debbie. That wasn't the bad part- I love Debbie. She said that her sister was in town and she would take the ticket- well.... I told her several times that the show was sold out. Is that definition lost in translation between people? Her sister brought her child- to make a complete 5 for my 4 tickets. When they wouldn't let him in- Sara left with Aaron and the three of us stayed. After dinner, her sister up and left. I know that she's pregnant, but she is well within the 2nd or 3rd trimester and shouldn't have as strong of nausea issues. Besides, she never even announced she was leaving- simply went to the bathroom and never came back.
At least the play was decent, LONG, but decent (lasted from 7-11p!)
