Priesthood, fun, graduation, and "marrwage(s) are what bring us together today"

What did I tell you about that date!
There are so many things that happened.  Steven was finally baptized.  His conversion seemed so strange to me.  The other guys that joined when I introduced them had an aura about them that they were joining just because I wanted them to.  Steven was different.  I felt like he had a true testimony.  He received the Aaronic and Melchezidek priesthood before our Temple marriage in November of 2009.
But it's not always about Steven, right?  I did other things too!  This is Ricki- she was my mentee from College Mentors for Kids.  What the program is- if the students maintain like a 2.5 gpa, never get caught drinking or smoking anything- they get tuition paid for them at a state school.  It was created in Indiana and is now starting to spread.  What a wonderful opportunity!
Steven's mom, Vincent, Steven, Vincent's mom,
Steven's 2 sisters- Katie and Amber
It was an especially big time for Steven's family.  December brought graduations and a wedding for Katie (Steven's slightly older sister) and Vincent who also graduated with a master's.

His hair was starting to grow out again.

Ok... *soapbox*  Katie had her mother walk her down the aisle at her wedding because she felt that she was never close to her father.  Regardless, Dad paid for her wedding, her schooling, her phone, and other miscellaneous expenses- close or not- that's a Daddy's role.  I don't care how close you are to your mother- NOONE can replace your dad.

Maybe that's just me....

Ok, dismounting the soapbox.
Katie's dress was handmade by her mother.  Sadly, the wedding was over an hour and a half late starting because the dress wasn't finished and they were sewing it together on the way to the church.  Currently, the dress doesn't have a hem and what was there was short and jagged.  I felt bad for her.
Ahhhh... the oh-so "stick of submission".  Steven and I talked about this for awhile.  It was both intriguing and strange.  From his African tribe, a man's status is determined by a walking stick.  Since Vincent's father had passed, Katie had given him one.  We just feel that kneeling in a wedding dress and saying things like, "I'll obey your every order" just seemed a bit much.
Toast- cheers!

Needless to say, I was horrendously sick on the ride down to Missouri for a weekend when I never really got to be with Steven.  For the entirety of the wedding and reception we were apart....
Even at the morning after when everyone was leaving, Steven and I sat at opposite sides of the table.  Not that we were fighting- seriously. Steven and I hardly ever fought over anything.  Maybe that's why- when we had a first big fight and we got divorced- maybe that's why it's so hard to let go??

Little Steven, (Amber's son) was really cute and my buddy pretty much the whole weekend.
10 more hours to go, huh?

I only wanted to post this because it was the first pic after our civil wedding- hence the new ring.  I loved his ring- it was truly beautiful.  After it was cleaned of course.... prior, I didn't even believe it was real diamonds...
