Men are sooooo not dependable!

Ugh.  So.... Shawn decided to *hopefully!* take a temporary dirt nap.  I guess I can't blame him entirely.  At least, he died in style.

I bought Shawn to decrease the workload on my poor car by splitting miles with the bike.  I only had two visits yesterday and thought that taking Shawn regardless of the 103 temperature at noon- would be ok.  I mean, it's two visits hours apart.  Yeah... well, not so much.

I got to Irving ok.  It's about a 20 mile highway drive.  Traffic only slowed a little- wasn't too stressful.

It was a freakin long haul to Duncanville which was a little over 30 miles from Irving.  I didn't mean to put them back to back but entering traffic at 4:30p, I was hoping to avoid rush hour, which I didn't really.  I got stuck in traffic for an added... well... not sure but I got to my patient's house around 530p.

I took Shawn around the corner with my first passenger- he was 8 and soooo psyched.  It was fun.

It wasn't until my way to support group that Shawn just tuckered out.  Aside from being trapped in horrendous traffic, Shawn finally said good night at a stoplight about 15 minutes from home.  He would just sputter when letting out the clutch and die.  I got him to a side road quickly.  He was inconsolable.  Poor thing.  I know I worked him extra hard aside from the evening 106 weather.  Anyway, being stuck at the side of the road for a long while.  I began to panic once I realized that my insurance card was on my kitchen table.  I called almost everyone I knew and no one answered.  I got a call back from my HT but that was only to cancel my appointment for Thursday- see!  Men.

I made an undecided-if-mistake-or-not call to an old discharged pt.  I feel they are fair game since he continued to call me and he isn't a current pt.  Unfortunately, or fortunately, not decided yet- he was also the father of the guy who stood me up this past weekend.  I know that he at least knows about cars.  I tried troubleshooting with him and he called his son.  Yay?  Anyway, while I daydreamed of a knight in a shiny car- he wasn't able to help much since he was still at work.  After arguing through text until about 11pm- he never answered my final question or why he stood me up.  Oh well. Definitely hating on men today.

Here lies Shawn, for now.  I got him up the street away from the freeway that you can't see.

This was my little campsite for a few hours.  I couldn't even sit on the ground because it was so hot.  Poor Shawn!

At least Shawn can go out in style.  The sunset was beautiful and even though I was upset about missing my support group- Shawn knows how to take a good break.

Troubleshooting for Shawn:

Ran out of gas - reserve didn't resuscitate him

Overheating - I moved him and got him to 2nd gear up the street before he died again.  I had waited about 20 minutes before trying.  Also, I learned, thank you Mr Stand-up Guy- that my bike is AIR cooled not liquid cooled.  How stupid to be an air cooled engine when capable of going highway speeds!

Broken clutch - possible- heck, I don't know how to ride!

Broken carburetor - yeah,  I was putting premium in the tank which I just learned was bad- silly me for wanting to spoil the poor thing!

kickstand down? - I can't believe I was asked that

I really hope Shawn is ok.  He was an expensive venture if he can't be revived!  I've only had him a month  :(

COME BACK SHAWN!!!

Oh yeah, and thanks for coming to my rescue Alice!  Still think it's funny that your mom wanted to put Shawn in the trunk of the baby SUV!  Wish he woulda fit though....
