Ebony

I guess I spoke too soon for that last post... Tuesday night my mother called me and told me that the family dog, Ebony, was about to die. I admit, she was about 15 years old, had already removed a tumor about half her size that dragged on the ground, and was on medication for arthritis. Ebony's sister, Brandi, passed a few years ago following a similar tumor removal surgery but she died from shock in recovery. Well, Mom told me that Ebony wasn't able to move, she was doing what Muffin, our very first dog did some 18 years ago. She was laying in the backyard for a long period of time. On Monday, she wouldn't go for a walk. Tuesday she couldn't move, Tuesday, Mom and Dad went to Diane's (the dog's favorite place) and took pictures and sat with her all night as she passed Wednesday morning at 9:16A. I loved Ebony and was very close to her. We've had the dog since I was 8 years old. She was with me through both grandparents passing, a few family friends, and learning my third grandparent was alive. She lived a great life with a huge yard, a sister by her side most of her life, and 2 sets of neighbor dogs of three. I'll miss the way her hair would stand up on her back anytime she saw someone new. The last time I saw her, I was babysitting a dog over Christmas break. We kept them apart except for one meeting. Tink, the other dog, ran up to Ebony and she got right back in the other dog's face. She would have fought her to the death. I'll see you in heaven, because by now all you know, All Dogs Go to Heaven.
